One-on-One Occupational Therapy

Individualized Care & Attention

At Horizon Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, we practice individualized care and attention when treating our Lowcountry patients. This “one-on-one” personal approach with occupational therapy allows us to provide treatment unique to every individual. Read on to learn more about the benefits of one-on-one therapy.

What is One-on-One Therapy?

The one-on-one therapy model focuses on private individualized treatment sessions between the therapist and the patient. We provide one-on-one therapy sessions throughout your entire course of treatment. This means that you will spend your full appointment time with a licensed physical therapist who is actively engaged in managing your care from beginning to end.

Benefits of One-on-One Therapy

One benefit of a “one-to-one” occupational therapy session is notably fewer distractions. At your initial appointment, your occupational therapist will have time to fully evaluate your condition no matter how complex. During subsequent treatment sessions, they will be able to provide the needed hands-on care, properly supervise exercise techniques, and monitor your response immediately. Your therapist’s attention will 100% be focused on you, instead of juggling multiple patients at the same time. Because of the custom treatment plans, you can set your own goals for the treatment and track them with your PT with reasonable expectations.

Private Occupational Therapy Sessions

Another great benefit of one-on-one sessions is building trust and a relationship between the therapist and the patient. It creates a comfort level that you wouldn't achieve in a group session, gives the therapist the chance to treat the patient as a whole, and notice subtle changes, progress, and potential issues. It means they know your history, struggles, and growth.
