Announcing Horizon’s New Walker Program
Most people will never need a walker, but when you do, Horizon is here to help!
Horizon has a number of walkers available for temporary use for your prehab and rehabilitation needs, based on a first-come-first-serve basis. Walkers are available to both patients and non-patient residents of the Lowcountry and are free of charge.
How to borrow a walker:
- Call us at 843-671-7342 to reserve a walker. Borrowers are required to provide their contact information and length of use.
- When you come by our Hilton Head clinic to pick up your walker, we’ll also provide brief instruction on proper use and helpful prehab tips.
- We ask that the walker be returned when no longer needed, so they can be lent to other patients.
If you’re already using a walker, crutches, or a cane, it’s important they fit properly and are being used safely. Click here for helpful tips on using them!
Muscle-Strengthening Home Exercises
Exercises you perform prior to knee or hip replacement surgery can strengthen your muscles, improve flexibility, and help you recover faster. Always consult with your physician or physical therapist before starting a new exercise routine.
